Category: Events
Subtitle: It gets better every year
Summary: The 2009 Chopped Rod and custom show was held at Newstead Football ground and was a huge success. Chopped 2009

This years Chopped , Rod and Custom show went off literally, the venue was the Newstead football ground , the weather was perfect which brought out some very slick traditional Hotrods and customs with some very cool bobbers making an appearance this year.

All up there was probably a hundred cars and bikes at the show including some nice examples of Aussie cars something I felt was missed at last years show but the organisers are improving the show each year as evidenced by the number of trade stands and a small but exciting exhibition of low brow art.

If you like your cars traditional then you would not have been dissapointed by the turn out with everything from garage built rats to slick shop built cars , the worst part was that while you where doing a lap of the cars more where arriving so you were constantly surprised by the line up ,
my favourite car of the show was a super neat bucket fitted with a Buick nail head sporting triple 97's
everything on this car was perfect!

The music this year was a huge improvement over last year with bands keeping the cats and Kittens up on their feet both during the day and until the music ended sometime around mid night , the stand out acts were the Vaudvillians who rocked our socks off and Abbie cardwell and her band who should definitely take up playing rockabilly full time , I preferred the stuff they played on stage more so than their cd's.

It's great to see so many Guy's and Gal's taking the opportunity to dress up ,in their old school threads for these shows , it adds a lot to the show , so if you missed this one do not miss next years which I believe is to be held at the Newstead racecourse, perhaps there will be some dirt track action to be had ?

Cheers Peter.
